OK, heres my 2 cents worth.

I agree that the Amiga was a great machine and and as far as plug and play,
it is the best but just having one doesnt mean that it can be used to get the
job done as you say.

Untill I got my Alpha, which was set up in about 30 minutes, I had to use my
amigas, 12 of them. In order to do the same job on my Alpha I needed 24 A
2000's running 040's. Now the maintenance on those 12 boxes was a constant
thing! Network problem here, power supply there etc.

I now have a 275MHZ Alpha and 1 Amiga! Sure it takes a little longer to get
things up and running somtimes but I spent way more time working to keep my
render farm going.
Not mention the money I had in all those machines! Way more than what I have
now.

I just finished a job for "Barney" that required 7 1200 frame anims. I never
could have done that on my Amigas. Just transfering those frames over the
network would have taken a ton of time. Now I just render to my Perception
and it's done.

The bottom line here is the right tools for the right job. As much as I like
the Amiga it is no longer possible to create work on it compared to todays
standards. I use it for macros, DPaint, Image FX, etc. The power work is done
on the Intel or Alpha machines.

If the Amiga had the POWER, I'd use it, no question about it. But for what
they cost compared to what a Pentium costs, which is about 8 times faster
than a 040 Amiga, there is no comparison.
